E60 diesels for USA?

Hi, ALL! 
I'm the new guy and I was wondering if someone could tell me when are the diesels coming to the States, I read so much about the e60's and e39 in the UK but it sounds like a car to have. And now even more then the fuel prices were they are at. Diesel is now cheaper then reg gas( at lease it is around philly). Please let me know, thanks!

The only quasi-solid rumors of additional engines is a possible turbocharged variant of the new 3.0L petrol engine. Supposedly would slot in @ ~300hp.
530i - 255hp
53?iT - 300hp
550i - 360hp
Nothing set in stone, but it would be interesting IMO.

Diesel gas still costs more than our highest octane rating (91) petrol gas here... but it does give better fuel economy i suppose... we'll see if it'll be offered... wheres the V8 550d?

No we use AKI here in the US... in CA we have 87 89 and stupid 91... use to be 92.
which is (RON+MON)/2
For example, BMW recommends for it's K1100 motorcycle: a minimum of 89 AKI, 95 RON, 85 MON.

[/quote]European octane rating is calculated differently, the octane is not actually higher than in U.S. And, the reason your gas costs more is punitive taxation. Period.
