I've seen references to the new 2006 530xi starting its production in March ... so if my e60 545i is being built in April, would it be considered at 2005 model year or a 2006 model year?

Apparently not because it MIGHT concern cars with new engines and AWD (and MY change is still not yet confirmed by any of new owners). As far as others are concerned MY SHOULD change since September production.

Ppl here on the board will tell you it's a MY2006, but it isn'T.

MY changes in September.

It's still an 05.

That's marketing only.

MY switches are made by BMW in Munich. Those are in September.

Iceman is correct. Any changes to specification are applied in September. This
is when MY model changes.
