Can someone direct me to the build timeline and process flow for the build out of an e 60. I know I've seen it here but my searches haven't been fruitful. I was just advised that my car is Status 51, I have a production # but there is no tracking service for Canadian customers (BMW Canada tells me ).

Thanks

K - isn't there a FAQ section on here some where, I recall it.

In Canada, your dealer (and your's is a good one) is your only real source of info - they can tell you pretty much daily at what stage your car is at, BUT the info they access sometimes doesn't change for days at a time. I found that checking about every 7 to 10 days worked best, that way you don't "pester" them constantly, and often in that time frame, changes in status can occur. More detailed tracking is not available for Cdn orders (to the best of my knowledge).

You should have a "build week" slated if you have a Production # now.

112 is the last status at which you can make changes and that is before production starts. So your car has either not started or it?s not at 51 (I don?t recall seeing anyone at Status 51 come to think of it).

Maybe it?s at Status 151?

I have sure been pleasantly surprised at the schedule of my new car so far! I ordered it on 1/2/08, scheduled to be built in week 7 (mid Feb) instead of a dealer's stock order, was actually into production on 1/17, completed on 1/24, and at the port awaiting a vessel on 1/28! Hard to believe that rapid a schedule -- especially in light of the ship tilt that wrecked so many others. I'd have thought that if anything those of us in the pipeline would have been slipped back some, not accelerated.

All good,

Cal

That sounds about right although nothing beats the schedule my 2006 had:
10. July 2006 - ordered
17. July 2006 - built
31. July 2006 - delivery

Yeah, but now I guess there's not much getting around the 30-45 days of transit from Germany to Washington State....

I call the toll free number and enter my production order number once a day just to check what phase it is in. Yesterday and today it was in the paint shop. I do this purely for curiosity because I really don't care when the car arrives. My current lease is up the end of April so I'm really not in any hurry. Another fun thing to do is to look at the Dingolfing virtual factory tour http://www.bmw-plant-dingolfing.com/dingol...m/en/index.html That was you can get an idea of exactly what's going on in each production phase. Word of advice: Let each section load with the sound off, then watch it after it completes. Otherwise it's really choppy and annoying.
