That's a good practice even if buying what appears to be a market-priced vehicle. After all it also gives leverage for the buyer if any flaws or defects are presented "in writing"!

BTW, according to Carfax, this car was totally serviced since day one by the BMW dealer selling it now. They probably did the bodywork!?! So, unless they are total douches I suspect they know everything there is to know about the car. May not be a bad buy for someone who may need to add a little elbow grease to make it nice. "Just sayin"!

Agree, keep it clean inside and out...including under carriage and engine and you really can look forward to an extension on the life of the vehicle. This doesn't just go for Japanese makes it goes for all. Only problem i find on German cars are the freaking electronics....very over engineered car and a PITA to break down for repairs since you have to have 'special tools' and pretty much move everything out of the way to get to your specific part. Ridiculous. Other than that....it's enjoyable.

I'm a bit paranoid about performing an engine wash, or even paying someone to do it. Water and electronics don't mix well - I can't see how forum members do this without a bit of anxiety! But I'd love a cleaner looking engine. Mine's not bad, but it's not gonna win any prizes with the hood up...

Anyway look forward to reading through the forums.
Well that makes me feel better about my recent purchase. 2004 545, 6M, sport, L7, no nav, 90K. Got it for 13.5, sometimes I wonder what's wrong with it, why was the price so low, but in the six weeks I've had it it's been fine (knock wood). Similar cars usually list for 16-20, but it also seems they don't sell.

Don't know about this one, an actual photo would sure help.
