It's a lie that the E60 handles great on snow/ice. It's OK, not more. I have Good Year Ultra Grip winter tires, and the car isn't by far as good as my E46 with the same tires..

We don't get much of any ice, just snow. It's then plowed and the streets are then dry. Even the streets that are not plowed (mostly side streets which you drive slowly on anyhow) are hard packed snow (not ice).

I've never driven an e39 in the snow, but I have a 4Runner, and I must say, the e60 does extremely well in the snow (with winter tires) compared to other cars I've had a chance to drive.

Put on the summers today

Haven't got them replace yet from BMW, but I'm so surprized that they make more noise then my winters ...

One plus is that I know I'm getting a new set of summers, so I'm driving with the DTC turned off and I'm burning them off

Looking forward to the new set of tyres

My snow mobile in Dunlop M3s.

Luv snowy winter night driving in t shirt with heated steering wheel, heated seats and tilited open roof!!
Its like skiing inside a greenhouse, pleasure like no other.

Coming soon: summer 124s this week.

It is a know fact that winter tyres are much more quiet.

They are made of much softer rubber.

In my case going from 225 16" winters to 245 18" RF's,
the differace is really big.
