My Ride: 2007 530Xi - Navigation, Premium package, Steptronic.

My dealer says the E60 525xi, and 530xi will be in dealerships by April. No word on pricing in the US yet, but German pricing seems to show that AWD adds about $2,000 to the MSRP. These will apparently be 2006 models, and have the R6 engine.

Thanks.... having never been there before..... I'm still (a little) concerned about the driving conditions, (snow is in the forecast). I know the Germans take good care of their roads... but it's still makes be a bit nervous looking at the extended weather forecast.

I'll be driving from Munich to Rothenburg...
Rothenburg to Colmar
Colmar to Verdun
Verdun to Paris

Planning on over night stays at Rothenburg, Colmar, Verdun.
Plan B is to drop the car of in Munich after a couple of days and take the train to Paris. I would really prefer to drive........ but snow covered roads and runflats aren't a good combination.

Some of the dealers around here have said the same thing to me... "AWD will begin showing up in Spring of 2005"... BUT, I have not seen anything on this or Bimmerfest.com discussing AWD.

I would think the 545xi (or 550xi) would be the last piece of puzzle to convince people on the "A6 vs. E60 fence" to make their decision.

Thanks,

E60 production for the 525Xi and the 530Xi starts May 1, 2005. US deliveries should start in the middle of June. This is also the launch of the 530XiT (wagon), but the 545 (550 as of September) has NO plans for all-wheel-drive. And although we have nothing to confirm it, I would say your dealer is close on the price increase for the Xi's.

The AWD is no rumour.
BMW even released the (German) pricelists allready.
