BMW fixed problem with remanufactured transmission and reprogrammed the EGS module.
Luckily this was still under warranty. Has anybody had any history on the life of the remanufactured transmissions?
Just wondering what the next big expense will happen since the warranty just ran out?

WOW!
As for re manufactured transmissions... not sure... but a lot of warranty parts are re-manufactured stuff... my previous MINI had a faulty clutch plate thats squealed really bad at 30K miles it worked fine... but just made noises when taking off... and I got it replaced under warranty and it was a re manufactured clutch plate too... and from reading post from other MINI owners much of the parts are re-manufactured...

It's undertsandable to use re-manufactured parts for warranty services but I wonder whether there are always corresponding brand new ones (in case the customer wants to buy it by himself).

I had an automatic transmission replacement at 42,000 miles.
It took three trips to the dealer before they replaced it.

80,000 miles on a 525 and no tranny problems that I'm aware of. However, my brand new X5 seems to be really jerking when switching from reverse to drive. Will be taking it in soon.

I'm right at about 50k on an '05 525. So far no issues. E60 Tranny had some different 'characteristics' from other cars I've had, but now that I'm used to it...all feels normal.

Sounds like it is ok so far. Most cars are under 50K miles however. We need to see enough data on cars with 100K+ miles to really conclude.
