I guess I could accept four M wheels for replacement.

UPDATE:

BMW have replaced the split alloy as a gesture of good will. I replaced the tyre. I tried to make the point that the other 3 wheels may be at risk but they were having none of that. I've accepted the gesture and will start saving for a set of M style alloys. (New M Body Styling Kit being fitted today!)

No way a cast wheel like that should crack. Bend yes, crack - absolutely no way unless there is a flaw in the casting process. I suspect BBS has a problem with a batch of these wheels.

A Batch or all 124s? When were the cars produced with crack wheels?

When there is a mfg problem with anything, it is almost always limited to a batch or set of batches. Sometimes it is a faulty process that is used for a while and then modified. Sometimes it is bad raw material that is used in a series of batches. Or it could be a bad fixture or casting mold, or any number of things. The chance that it affects ALL 124 wheels is slim, unless they were all produced at about the same time. It is likely that BBS knows about the problem with your wheel and has corrected it for subsequent batches. I would contact them and/or BMW.

Driving home from work today I hit a pothole, at a speed of 60 mph or so. Didnt seem like anything worse than some other potholes Ive hit before. A few secs later I heard a noise that sounded kind of like I had a flat tire. I pulled over after about 1/4 mile to the shoulder and looked at the tire. It looked fine. So I kicked it and heard a rattling kind of noise. Then I remembered this thread, and decided to grab the flashlight to take a closer look. I found my rim cracked just like the ones posted all the way around the rim. No damage to the tire or scratches on the rim.
