E60 550i M Sport with 6 speed manual
I know that this may sound crazy but I am a bit of a stickler for manuals!! Is it possible to put in (with some modification or a fair bit??) the 6 speed transmission/gearbox from the previous generation M3? I know it's possible to attach it to the V10, that was done by. Piper Motorsport on the FrankenM3! But would it be possible to attach it to the V8 without having to change any major components?
The mechanical side of things is no worry to me as I'm doing a home study course and nearly finished it plus spent a fair bit of studying BMW's but the transmissions still baffle me slightly! hahah!

Why not just hunt around for the car you want? My best friend was able to find the exact car you're describing. Was the 550i Sport not available in the UK with a manual? It definitely was here in the US.

No, it wasn't available with a manual in the UK, unfortunately! I've seen that other trannies have been fitted to other engines but I'm unsure of how much work is needed to be done both mechanically and also interior wise to make it compatible!

My Ride: 09 550i 6sp M-Tech. 18mm spacers rear, 8mm front. Dinan intake and Stage 2 tune. Tinted tails, M5 OEM lip spoiler.
08 Z4 3.0si Black on Black with Beige top. Removable hardtop. (Hers)
06 Volvo S60R Heavily Modded!! Gone and missed.
That SUCKS!! I love my 6sp .
You should probably look for the N62 manual gearbox rather than the M3 one. That should be the less painfull of the options.

Sweet!! Does he have a thread on it or will I have to ask him? Also, the price for me to get everything and have it shipped to the UK is decent and a lot less than I was expecting!! £2520 when converted to GBP (Plus I rounded to allow for shifts in the market up or down!)
