Hi everyone, i wanted to see if anyone had notices why the e40 545i has 2 mufflers on the same side and when only driving local streets, only 1 tip gets hot while the other remains cool?
thanks.
thanks.

One is always on and the other works when you really hit it!
thanks.

what happens when you change out the exhaust for a custom one?

With custom mufflers, you're free to do what fits you best

does this have any effect on the car since now at higher speeds there is no second muffler to open up?

which setup did you change to? i'm looking to do a custom magnaflow system (quad) but i'm not really sure as i do not want to change anything on the car's engine. on my 545i i do not get goo gas mileage as it is and i do not want to mess with the car's mechanics as it is a bmw that is very fussy, i'm not sure if you understand what i mean, but this is the first bmw that gives me errors on anything i touch unlike my other bmws. i want to do a quad setup, but i don't want to mess up the car or have the dealer say it was because of the exhaust that messed it up...etc... i might just change the tips on the stock mufflers and add fake tips on the other end, but not sure yet. any suggestions?
