Hi All,
I have an E60 535D and it has had this problem for a while. Every time I use it I get 'Excessive Battery Discharge' on the display. If I leave the car for around a week the battery does indeed go flat.
I bought a code reader and the only errors are :-
Diesel electronics DDE
3EED - Power Management closed - circuit current violation - I am assuming (may be wrongly) that this is throwing the 'excessive discharge' message
The only other code picked up was this one
IHKA - Integrated automatic heating / a/c control
9C55 Fresh air flap motor
IHKA2 - Integrated automatic heating / air conditioning
9C55 Fresh air flap motor
So does this mean that one of the air flap motor is faulty / stuck? According to research there are two of these motors one each for left and right.
I'm struggling to find out exactly where they are on the car so I can go and take a look so any help there would be appreciated.
Any guidance on fixing this would be great
Kind Regards
Steve

hello
I will try to help
some times cars do get a constant discharge from a faulty electrical part
If you have a multi meter, connect it to the battery while the car is all switched off.
also make sure your car battery is fully chanrged
close all the doors and makes sure the boot light is off as well while you are doing this test on your battery by taking the light out
your car will show a little drain on your battery of maybe 10ma but this is normal (clocks etc)
if it is much higher then you have a problem.
to find the problem it is simple
simply remove a fuse one at a time and then refit it, till you find the Multi meter drop down to about 10ma
once you have found the fuse that is causing the drain you can fix the problem easily
i hope this helps

I found the cause of the problem by doing as you suggested and removing fuses until the current draw stopped.
It turn out to be the Radio / Sat Nav system. It was a short on the DVD drive cable. I'm surprised it didn't do more damage but there you go. I redressed the cable and put it back together and now no message.
Thanks again
