i am picking up my car tommorow which is 530D on 55 plate but it seems car does not have sat nav instead dealer is giving me another sat nav ( trafic master gps ).
i was wondering can i upgrade my 530 to bmw sat nav and do all bmw come with pre fitted with loop for updrade.
any other tips please do give as i am new to 530 and proud owner of 523.

Welcome to the forum and Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You may need to live with your car the way it is or be prepared to spend 1000s on a conversion.

Hi Mate. I did this conversion on my 6 series which is the exact same system. It's not that hard or expensive to do provided you are happy with the business navigation, rather than the professional system.
All you need to do is get hold of a second hand business navigation CCC (which is the CD thing in the middle of your dash). In addition to this you will need a GPS ariel (available on ebay for about ?15). I bought mine from a guy in Poland who is still advertising the unit for around ?300 uk.
Just fit the new CCC into the dash (it's a straight swap), the only new cable will be your ariel. Now you couldroute this ariel throught to the back of the car and have a nav fin cut into the roof, but i found it worked perfectly well through the plastic dash (will work through plastic but not metal).
Finally you may need to have it coded to the car but mine worked straight off, and once i'd figured out how to take the dash apart, i could now do the upgrade in about 6 minutes!
Best of luck, if theres anything else i can help with let me know.
P.S. I'm sure the professional upgrade is do-able but you will also need a new screen, loom and i drive controller (8 way) and a bit more than 6 minutes
