Hi

I have a Sept 2006 530D M sport. I took it into my dealers the other day for a few things to be looked at. One was that the idrive was slow to respond. I got it back today and noticed a lot of changes to the idrive. Cosmtically different colurs which make it a lot easier to see. When I press the idrive a lot of the functions are in different positions. When I play a Cd the graphic in entertainment is completely different now consisting of a CD graphic. The whole thing seems to have a silver gray theme to it.

Now here is the interesting the thing. The car seems a lot smoother. The pull on acceleration seems a lot harder and it appears to hold the gears better. Is this my imagination or has the software update actually improved the performance of the car. All the dealer will tell me is that as a result of my complaint they have updated the software as per a service notice. The car was nice to drive before but now its like a rocket. Within the legal limits of course

Any information appreciated.

It won't have improved your performance, but reset the learning and adapting part of your gearbox, hence the better gearing and in gear feeling.

There's another thread going on here, telling you how you can sort that refresh yourself anytime you are not happy with your shift patterns anymore.

My car is going back to the dealer tomorrow, spent the week in Boston MA so didnt have time before. They apparently have to insert an authority code to get the voice activation up and running. Why they couldnt do this at the CIP upgrade I dont know?

My dealer told me when my car was reprogramed that engine (218 PS) now has 5-6 PS more with updated CIP 25 and consumes cca. 0.7 l/100 km less diesel.

Really? You think BMW took the time to update the engine map for the 218PS engine? (Possibly for the 231PS engine...) Interesting information as I'm about to get CIP25...
