E60 525i Help :)
#1
Returned home from a large trip and had the oil level come up on the i-drive screen, we quickly sorted that out, filling the car with Mobil 1 to keep it happy.
As soon as I've done this this morning, went to start the car and the a "Active steering failure" has come up on the i-drive screen...
Are the two related or what should I do?
Have enclosed a couple of pics, owners manual doesn't say which one is the power steering fluid is, so I've posted up a pic for those in the know to point it out lol...

Any idea of what it was & what kind of cost was involved? Battery wasn't disconnected at all, but I was in the car for an hour or so lastnight mucking with the i-drive to become a little more familiar... Could that have flattened a battery that is potentially stuffed?

if you have warranty on the car it would cover it. should not cost you anything.
mines happened when i was upgrading the car audio, and i had to unplug the battery.
i couldve been anything, just remember that the car is a rolling computer.
when you driving is the steering wheel out of balance? leaning to side? if its not, the active steering should dissapear shortly. if it does take it to the dealer.

Please also ask your dealer to check the battery output, it might need to be charged a little bit, and yes Reset the AS at the dealer, its fine dont worry,
