E60 525D - Anyone had rocker arm failure
Hello all,
just joined, i've got a e60 525d with 156k on the clock and started experiencing horrid noise which i tracked down to be under the valve cover, after removing the valve cover i found about 4 rocker arms that sit on top of the valve and lifter to be broken.
i'm going to be taking the head off and change out the valve stem seals and rocker arms.
just curious to know if anyone has had this failure and what could have caused it.
already done a compression test and its all checked out fine.
looks like i caught it just in time.
thanks.

I've read over this, and can't figure it out.
There are four rocker arms broken, so (sensibly) the OP will be removing the head and doing some work, BUT compression is fine now? But somehow this was "caught just in time" (after four rocker arms broke?)?
I was wondering if this could be a Valvetronic issue, but don't think the diesel variants use that.
