Now that you already sure it has been done ... so the quick the answer is yes (but not a simple swap) and as you are I'm also sure it has been discussed many-many times before in so many threads and0 all you have to do is do an extensive search to find out ... to add of what you wondering many members (like me) even did a full LCI light conversion including the headlight 'cuz of the LCI light features.

Yes it can be done. If you are lightly skilled in electricals you should be able to do it.
There is an official retrofit kit from btw including all the wiring and a set of instructions with it. There is a fair bit of wiring but on a scale from 1 to 10 i set this as a 6.5

Hi
If your E60 have a build/prod. date after 09/2006 it is very easy to do this retrofit , you only need the adapter cables set for LCI taillight's from BMW , 2 wires that have to be runned from the taillights ( one from each ) up front to the LMA2 ( under the steeringwheel in the A-pilla ) and pinned into this LMA2 , and then a simpel coding to the LMA2 , and you are set :-)

I have a 10/2006 build E60 - so it looks like I am one of those lucky ones. Can you please point me to a DIY for these cars (that already have LMA2) and don't need other cables except the BMW factory adapters?
thanks a lot
