I really like my 545i but I would sell it and buy a 03 M5 if i had the chance! I miss my old 528.. that car was awesome!

There are dozens if not hundreds of threads here on this topic. Both are great cars with their own strengths and weaknesses.

As a pure drivers car, there's no question...E39.

I've never owned an e39, but if the e39 is anything like my 2001 740 sport, then I'll tke the e39. My 2005 545i just doesn't drive like a BMW. It's more like a sport Benz.

I've driven the E39 loaner from my indy shop and I have to say that even though the engine sounds sweeter than the E60, I'll take the E60 any day.

Maybe it's just an infection

I have an e39 M5 and just recently purchases a 545...very different cars each with their own strengths. For me it's definately the e39, problem is mine is starting to get a little old to be a dd, either way you can't go wrong.

My previous biimmer is an E39 and what I miss most is the solid ride, better body fit( no squeeks and reattle). Styling wise, and technogy, I will go with my E60
