Anyone see the buzz around Carl Zeiss producing Nikon F mount glass? Sounds like an announcement is nearing.

To me, that's the equivalent of hearing that Dinan just released 10 serious performance mods for our cars....

Over on the Leica Forum, there is mumbling about Zeiss contracting their name out to Japanese manufacturers, (similar to what Leica has done with Panasonic).

Owning pounds of both, (Leica and Rollei) I tend to prefer the Leica lenses for romance, and the Zeiss lenses for aching sharpness. I find Schneider a fine happy medium on my Rolleiflexes. I wish I still had a body that could use the CZ Jena lenses: cheap Commie glass that was wonderful.

I shoot M mount as well... The Cosina-built ZM mount Carl Zeiss glass is superb despite what purists would consider questionable pedigree. It's good to see a manufacturer jump on a trend (Zeiss glass being mounted on Canon bodies) if it does turn out that we'll see a new batch of "real" Zeiss glass for Nikon and others. This can only be good news. For the most part, SLR glass being sold today just isn't good enough.
