I tried searching the forum for a similar topic so please excuse me if this has already been addressed.

I have a problem with my Dynamic Drive System. I used to get this error every once in a while, now its increasing in frequency and occurring nearly every day now.

It appears the magic combo is when I drive fast say 70mph and higher AND listen to my radio at any volume other than very low. The radio cuts in and out (power wise). I also experience a stutter in my suspension (very noticeable as I am traveling at high speeds). Then right after the radio's hiccups and the suspension getting jittery...a big red error pops up and says Dynamic Drive Malfunction. Once that system goes out...my car handles like an old school Cadillac...swaying all over the road.

Once I come to a full stop and restart the vehicle the error is cleared and the system comes back on. But it will go right back out again once I return to high speeds and regular radio volume. In addition my window trap malfunction warning pops on during this as well.

I have experienced this error at low speeds as well...but only when I am revving the engine (I do that often in neutral to enjoy the sound of my aftermarket exhaust).

Thoughts? Help!

Most likely it's the alternator. I had similar issues but worse. I had the car shut down on me on the highway.

I would change the battery first. Then if it still acts up, change the alternator.

I should also note that these issues arose after installing my aftermarket sound system. I have a single Alpine R-Type 12" and a 500 watt mono block amplifier. But it was professionally installed at best buy (not that they are industry leaders or anything lol).

The dealer suggested I get an entirely new power cable set-up (about $600) but that was just their "hunch" and they couldnt guarantee that it would solve the problem.

if i replace the battery, can I put in an Optima Yellow Top? those are really good for aftermarket sound systems...

the radio install may or may not be a culprit, but that is a pretty classic sign of the alternator going south.

check ebay- I got a new replacement (NOT a rebuild) for $309. rebuilds can be had for significantly less.
