Dynamic drive/abs/engine warning issues - Solved
Hi All
Thought I’d post to help others who might encounter this with a 550 n62 car.
The problem started with a throttle that would become un-responsive after a cold start. Problem was seemingly solved by just restarting the car. No problems for awhile and then bam. Warning lights - dynamic drive, abs, and active steering error messages. Restart and all is well. But the errors came back with increasing frequency and then the dreaded engine warning error.
I ordinarily fix everything myself and thought this was a wheel sensor issue based on reading forums. But being January in Chicago, I capitulated and took it to an Indy.
Well, they fixed the problem and turns out to be a faulty throttle body wiring harness. They said BMW has a bulletin out on this. Anyway, not too expensive at $400. I also had them replace the battery and program it. And since I’m apparently getting soft, I had them do the dreaded alternator bracket. That was a future project I wasn’t looking fwd to, after having done the valve gaskets.
Highly recommend Helmut and Vitos in the Downers Grove IL area.
