I was proudly driving around with a mate who hadnt been inside a BMW before and he questioned why i had a DVD player underneath the single cd. I told him it was for the nav disc but would play a cd if i put one in.
He then asked whether a dvd full of music could be put in there. (Not mp3s - Just proper music)
I couldnt answer him.
However before I spend an hour or so burning a DVD with about 50 odd tracks of music to test has anyone else tried it out and found out whether it can be used for such things?

Yes, I think Jay realizes this. However his question was can a DVD be burned into an audio cd format? Answer is no it cannot. There is DVD-Audio, but this is not supported in the E60, it is supported in the new Acura TL though!
When MP3 becomes available, you can burn MP3s onto the DVD and it should be playable.

On topic but slightly off track:
Is it true that the DVD slot plays DVDs (video) when in park for Euro versions but not US? Not that I need the option, but I have been asked if it is possible; I myself did not know how to respond. I know it doesnt work here (tried it), but curious if it does overseas.

Are you saying that with PRO NAV but no TV module the DVD slot is useless for anything other than navigation?
