anyone else have the same problem? with he NAV disk in, every now and again, usually about 20-30 seconds into the drive, and at various times throughout the drive, I hear a grinding type sound coming from the dash. I am positive it is the DVD player since it doesn't happen without the disc in it. The disc is perfectly flat. anybody else?

Nothing is wrong with mine. You may go to the dealer and ask them.

Pay close attention to when the "grinding noise" happens...Not sure if your noise is like mine, but I notice a bit of "unusual" noise immediately when I cross city boundaries. I suspect the unusual noise is simply the DVD reader going crazy changing its data set to the new city you just entered. The noise I hear seems to die down after about 1 minute after entering a new city.

There's nothing wrong with it. The dvd-rom is just reading some new info from the disc. Mine does it as well occasionally.

I here noises from my DVD very often, when the car is parked - before starting the engine or after shutting it down. Nothing wrong.

believe it or not, i talked to my dealer about this and even the tech tested it out on his own and he promised to check on that. but by the end of the day, he said he tested three other e60 and they are all the same . i was pissed . even my service advisor and sales advisor said it doesn't seem normal but they couldn't do much since they are not the tech .
