Did you look at the seller's feedback? A couple of people say his discs are burnt copies, too!

I saw a 100% positive feedback on the seller, who claims these are OEM. The seller has a 14 day return policy. If they don't happen to be OEM, I will send them back for a refund.

The apparent burnt ones were much cheaper. Hopefully, the seller has integrity.

I can't imagine a "burned disc" causing problems with the drive itself. Few if any of us have the capability to "replicate" (as opposed to "duplicate") DVDs and would they even sell blank DVDs to be burned if they caused damage to a DVD drive?

How would a burned disc damage a dvd player? In the same regard would a burned CD damage the cd player? This does not make sense to me????

It's gotta be an old wife's tale - I've been using a home-burned copy of my factory original DVD map for more than 5 years w/o any - repeat no - problems. . Did the same on past two BMWs after my very first BMW supplied Nav "CD" mysteriously disappeared after a service visit! (YES, early BMW NAVs used a CD map!)

It is possible to damage a drive by doing extensive burning of discs. I think that is because higher intensity of the laser is used to actually burn a disc as opposed to just playing a disc so heat can build up if burning one disc after another.

Are these discs single layer or dual layer?
I ordered a 2009.1 disc for my car when i purchased it, and it constantly struggles to read the data and after awhile, it'll just quit. I know that the 2009.1 discs were dual layer and the data was corrupted in one way or another, plus our cars had trouble reading dual layer discs. I suppose my drive is going bad as well..

That does not make sense!!

My old DVD works (2007) but the new one I bought (2015) does not work.
We know that the problem is not the reader because the old DVD works.
The new DVDs are probably not bad, they just aren't formatted in the way that the reader expects.

BMW screwed up.
They didn't regression test for backward compatability.
The dealer said they are looking for a part # for a DVD that was formatted correctly for the 2009 525 DVD reader.
In other words, the latest/greatest DVD is no good for a 2009 reader. We need an older version of the DVD
