Thumbs down

MY car is 545i 2004 model... I changed the first tire due to unknown defect

You can see it here

Dunlop Tires Problems-.jpg

Then exactly after 10 months of buying my New car I changed the four tires again ??
I found that the inner side of the tires gone as you can see it in below pictures.

Dunlop dealer said it is because of my car? and this is a common problem in all E60 cars.
BMW dealer said the tires have problems ?? and I have to change them. they said "BMW car have no problem
"

after changing the four tires with another four dunlop run flat tires. And by less than 2 years .. I notice today the same problem of above tires occur but only for rear tires.

I don't know where the problem is? Dunlop Tires or my 545i needs balancing or alignment.

help me if you experience the same problem. Tomorrow I have to go either to BMW dealer or Dunlop agency.

I found this file any relation with the above issue?
dunlop_runflat_SB.doc
I took a screen capture of E60 BMW 2004 owners manual

Any way I will never go for Dunlop tires again.

If your car has the Sport package, I have read that the settings in the package which give the enhanced handling, also lead to increased tire wear (which starts as cupping) on the inside edge of the rear tires. Seems the price of good handling is more frequent tire replacement. I think BMW CCA Tech Guy Mike Miller had an item about this characteristic in the latest Roundel.

Yes that is exactly that problem... if you were in the US you can probably get the dealer to change it for you under warranty but you're not...

Just dont get the Dunlop runflats again.

Rudy thankx for the links....

NOW I remembered something I was mistaken when I wrote in topic title "problem occurred in less than 2 years ?????" ... After checking the Invoice .. I found that I changed all tires last June 2006 .... which means the problem occurred again in LESS THAN ONE YEAR. ????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How bad dunlop tires are !!

By the way I changed the tires with PS2 but not from .Michelin dealer or BMW agency. Both are bad in UAE. For this serious problem they ask me to stop the car till 7 of May 2007 ??? I don't know if I want to have an appointment for normal engine oil change .. how long they are going to delay me...

any way I am happy getting rid of Dunlop tires.

All tyres are required to meet minimum a load capability determined by thier load rating.

The vast majority exceed the minimum requirements of the load rating by a large amount, often 30%.

Could it be that Dunlops cut it a lot finer and that might be the reason why they seem to have problems that others do not?

My 04 545i had dunlops on it from the factory. BMW replaced them under warranty due to the being out of round at 10,000 miles. The bridgestones they put on have held up ok.

Why are your talking years (time period) not mileage. How many miles/KMs you drove since the last change?
