Have to thank the Forum for being of so much help. Today I went to my BMW dealership (Nalley) in Atlanta to address issues w/ noise regarding my Dunlop run-flats. My SA originally stated that she was not aware of the problem. So, I emailed her the bulletin. An hour later she called to tell me that they would be changing all 4 new tires (I guess w/ Dunlops again). I will also upgrade the CIP during this dealer visit, hopefully to 19 plus version. The only thing that the dealer wants to charge me is an alignment fee of $250 that they "strongly" recommend after installing the tires. Is this legit or BS?

Do you have AS or not? $250!!!!!!

Hey tell Dunlop to pay for it. If it wasnt for the tires being defective you wouldnt need new tires yet!

I'm proud to say that this forum is the reason that BMW/Dunlop started replacing the tires! We were the first to complain and we were the first to start getting replacements. Clearly, our voices were heard early on when many of us campaigned here for everyone to call BMWNA and tell them about the noise and uneven wear pattern of the Dunlops.

I also think it's important to realize that BMW (and Dunlop) stepped up and dealt with the problem in a proper way. They didn't avoid the problem (although early on they didn't think the problem was as widespread so they kind of stalled) and once they realized there was a defect, they did the right thing.

I'm even more amazed that they're doing it again for people that are seeing the same problems with the replacements. Most manufacturers would take the position that they'd replace the set once and that would be all...

Thanks BMW and thanks E60.net!!

I have these tyres & have covered 10,000 miles. The tyres a nearly worn out !, I have not abused them. The worst tyre wear I have ever experienced, over 25 years or motoring..
Does anyone know if this TSB also applies in the UK?

I got 15k out of mine! See here Ditched!

I haven't heard of anyone getting any joy out of the American TSB... (Although the Door Seals one worked!)

I wouldn't touch those Dunlops ever again! The dealer's comment was the rubber was really soft! I think it's a combination of poor tyres and heavy car!

Just had my tires replaced for the SECOND time. This time they're trying Bridgestones, instead of another set of Dunlops. Hope these fare better, but I'm skeptical based on others' postings to the contrary - i.e. it's a car/suspension issue rather than a problem with the Dunlop tires.

Anyone else care to comment on the Bridgestones?

I've heard mostly positive feedback from Bridgestone owners here but I was told that I'll most likely get another set of Dunlops as my replacements. I'm actually quite okay with that because the Dunlops are fine for the first 7000 miles or so. I'll be happy to keep getting free tires every 7000 miles from BMW for the life of my lease...

Mine are 17 inch Bridgestone Potenza 225/50's and the fronts have covered just over 19k miles and I reckon will go another 5k without any problem. The tread wear seems to be quite even as well. The rears were replaced at 18k miles as part of the deal when I purchased the car last month (second hand), but were not completely shot even though they were near enough to the tread wear indicators for me to negotiate new ones (I didn't want to have to pay out on new tyres so soon after purchasing the car), but I reckon they would also have seen 20k miles without any problem.

I heard they were quite harsh on ride - but this might just be on the 245/275 tyres... I almost bought some recently (Also considered Goodyear Eagle F1) but decided to go the non-RF Michelin PS2 route - and I don't regret it for a second! The ride is now magic.
