I have the 20 inch style 121 rims witht OE Dunlop sport 01 DSST on my 2006 650i Conv. After 16,800 miles, there was unbearble noise and the inner tread blocks were worn on both of my rear tires with a rubber thread dangling out on the left on. Scottsdale North BMW said this was regular wear and tear and replaced the both rear tires and charge me $980 despite the fact that I showed them SIB 36 02 05. They said this was for 5 series vehicles only. Is this true or should I call BMW customer servivce directly?

The SIB does mention only E60 cars -- I'm not sure if they ever exteded it to 6 series cars -- cobradav should know the answer to that one.

At what mileage did the "unbearable noise" occur?

Difficult say when the noise really started as I am not a car expert and may have taken things for granted. However, I brought it to the dealer on the same day my wife noted onset of "flappping" sound starting at speeds of 30 mph and faster. This eventually turned out to be the torn strip of rubber in the inner portion of the right tire brushing against the sidewalls. I admit the no tire problems existed before 10,000 miles. However, I did have the car at BMW North Scottsdale the day before incident (to hve coolant added and to check why passenger airbag lights would spontanteously light up) and the SA admits that they failed to notice any tire problems at that time and he apologized for "having missed it" but that the tire problem was "normal wear and tear" anyway.

What happens when a brand new 5 Series (or M6 for that matter) needs to brought in for serivce because the "Remote Key Falls Out of CAS Holder" and "the cup holder jams when retracted"? I hope that the dealer doesn't say that SIB 61 09 05 and SIB 51 37 05 is only for the 3 Series and charge to replace the Car Access System Holder and the cup holder. Would you agree wih BMW and simply pay? I think not. Having said this, why would the Dunlop SIB conveniently be for the 5 series only?
