I am so disqusted, i scraped the curb comming out of the atm banking machine front and rear then i slighty corrected my aim and whola i curbed the right passenger wheel. So dont talk on the cell phone while your driving. It is so painfull that i cant even post the pics yet. Going to try the Mobile wheel guru in town or i am looking at roughly 2400.00 dollars to replacce. Anyone used the mobile guys? and if so what was the experience like? Hi buddy:

Arrrrg. Your pain is my pain. My 101's are off my car right now and one is being lathed for a small amount of curb rash. It is so easy to make small errors and mess wheels up. I won't go into my story but it was sort of freaky, and I actually was paying attention.

I have used mobile guys before, and the job they will do will be essentially as good as if the wheels were removed and de-tired before repairing. Right after the repairs you will not be able to tell your wheels from new unless one or more is very deeply gouged. Over time, you may seem some differential fading of the paint, and some of the repainted areas may need to be painted again especially if you go through high pressure car washes. Usually, the repairers will guarantee that the paint won't come off. So, if it does, then they should be willing to repaint.

I say give the mobile guys a try before buying new wheels. I think that you will be satisfied enough that your will at least delay the repurchase and, perhaps, never repurchase.

And, merry Xmas to you too.

Aauuch!

If you lie in your bed all your life nothing (bad nor good) will happen.

But if you drive your E60 and take care of your social life
speaking on the cell, you'll glow.

It could cost a bit, but that's life.

Seasons Greetings!

The mobile guys are acceptable, and it beats buying a new wheel.

Mobile guy charges $150. New wheel is around $320 + $30 for RFT mounting/balancing. I am not sure I would want a mobile guy.

I nipped two SNOW wheels the other day: one driving along a university roadway, but from what I could see in the rearview mirror, there was a small bank of frozen slush all along there, so I doubt that I did anything. Then 5 minutes later, driving through a very narrow, sharp-curved ATM "ramp", I clipped another, this time, I think it was more Active steering over-steer than anything else. It was my first trip through this ATM drive with this car, but never had any probs with the E39. Haven't checked up close yet.

But now, I have been warned about Active Steering in tight quarters.

I used a mobile repair for two of my wheels. They did a great job for $100 a wheel. Make sure they repaint the entire wheel, that way you will not have any fading/matching issues.

I think I have been paying $75 for the same guys my BMW dealer uses. The downside to painting the whole wheel is that one sets himself up to have the paint come off from a much larger area. And, I suspect that the fading issue is a non-issue for most since most probably don't keep their cars for more than 3 years and because once the new wears off we tend to not be quite as picky as at the outset.

Why can't you do nothing about it if it can't be fixed cheap? Why do you have to replace four perfectly fine wheels just because they have scratches?
