...I found maybe from right here! That when the DTC button is pressed for 2 or more seconds it appears the 4x4 feature goes into automatic ALL Wheel 4x4 and the instrument cluster shows an exclaimation mark [!] within a triangle and an outer circle and arrow head at about 10:00 on the clock. Its an interesting symbol if in fact it is for the full 4x4! I know I could have read the manual and maybe have asked my local BMW Show room with the fancy Keyboard activated Palsma TV which helps one get to know even the smallest of details, but I figure its always more fun to hear it first here. These rides are truely amazing! What goodies are in store for 2010 and the F-10?

I am pretty sure that pushing the DTC button for more than 2 seconds only serves to de-activate DTC. It has nothing to do with the 4X4. Our x-drive cars are always in 4X4 mode with more drive going to the rear.

No for some reason the instrument cluster at the top between the Miles per Hour and the RPM gauges shows a Triangle with and "!" and outer cirlce and when I press the "DTC" button for longer than 2 seconds the DTC 1st comes on then this symbol shows up. I can feel the car seemingly get very stout to the road almost like it is clawing at all fours? Go figure? Dan

My Ride: SOLD...Jet Black 2008 550i M Sport with SAT, black interior. RPI exhaust and air scoop, 35% huper optik tint all around, CF roundels, flat black kidneys, Springfield Armory XD-40 jet black in glove box, charcoal filter removed.

The way it works on my car is this: push the DTC for two seconds and the DSC is limited. push it in again for two seconds and the DTC is deactivated. The first two second push will get you a "DSC limited" or similar message on idrive and the second two second push gives you the symbol you mentioned and a "DTC deactivated" message on the idrive. There is no 4X4 function other than the x-drive.

Yes, this is on my 550i, but I've also owned a 330XI, and X-5 and my wife currently drives a 325XI.

hope this helps.

Yeah DHA! My dealer Salesman said it gives you the Limited DSC Control that works as Ron says better with the more powered HP 5s. Is the DSC better in the twisties and corning? Thanks Dan
