Those changes are in March05 and can't be retrofitted.
Hmm, my car completed production on March 1...do you think I got this stuff or not?
Sure it's a hardware change and not a software update ?
Because since a few days I'm having the issue that when making a full stop (my car has automatic transmission), the car seems to bounce back.
First I thought it had something to do with the brakes -not very clean because of the winter weather-, but now I think it's the auto tranny which goes from 1 to 2, or vice versa when a car is fully stopped. When I play with the brake pedal -just at the moment the car stops, I release the pedal a little bit- giving the intention to move ahead - I do not get this bump backwards. That's why I think it's a transmission probl.
After having read that some E90 (having auto tranny) contain a soft-stop function,
I was hoping that we E60-ers could get this advantage too?
Or is my car facing yet again another problem?
Little detail: auto tranny has been replaced 2 months ago. see this thread

That's no problem. If you brake to a full stop the front of the car goes down and once you stop it bounces up. So you feel like it's going backwards, but it's just coming up. I can stop my E60 and the passenger doesn't even notice it, or I can stop just as you describe it, with a "bounce back".

I do not want to be negative but my former car was a Merecedes equiped with the SBC electrohydraulic braking central which includes a lot of this new functions but the soft stop is completely useless. I do not feel any difference with my new BMW. I still have problems to have smoth stoping (maybe I am a bad driver).
I think it is due to the combination of powerfull engine + autogearbox + large brakes + soft brakepads.
Driving the 94 old Peugeot 306 of my father also equiped with auto trans. this phenomen is far less sensible to to the fact that the car has half the power and the brake of the BMW
Iceman - on my 2005 January built U.S.spec 545i - DSC is DTC with dual settings for powerline seperation from chassis controls - gyro versus ABS. I do not understand why the braking functions would not be a software upgrade as they essentially are timed functions in braking and do not require any additional hardware to accomplish? I agree that it could use comfort stop - that seems missing in this built.

Now, the changes ARE hardware, and that info is coming from a BMW engineer in Munich!
Well, I will concede to your geographical superior - though I am involved with the folks who provide ABS brake technolgy in this marketspace... actually some functions have been enhanced with dynamic brake control and brake cornering algorithims added in the 2005 year builds.
