Franky,

Your car should have DSC and DTC - DTC is a sub-function of DSC.
Have a look at page 77 of your manual - it explains how to switch DTC and DSC on and off, and the relevant indications when you do.

Frankie

Hold down your DTC button for about 10 seconds and see what it says on the screen or on the intrument panel. Or for that matter, see what it says when on the iDrive screen with just one press. I've got a 56 535d, but I'm assuming it's all the same.

All bmws have the same DSC/DTC

DTC=traction control where car detects wheel spin and shuts off engine accordingly
DSC=encompasses both DTC when on AND offers additional safety such as sensing when car is losing control and correcting via adjusting steering and brake/power at individual wheels to compensate to the best of its ability

Press DTC once-shuts off everything except the DTC (yes counterintuitive I think)
Hold DTC for 5 seconds and you shut off DSC and DTC (yes wierd as well since DSC includes DTC-but you get the point
