I have posted topics before concerning the September updating of the model 06. They will start manufacturing my 530 next week but I will not get the upgrades.
What I have heard will the dsc be upgraded and that seems to be the most important one. Other upgradations as the start/stop button and leather on top of the idrive is not that important for me. That leads to my questions.
1. Has anyone got the new dsc version? Is it improved so that you "feel the difference"
2. Do you think that I should take this not upgraded car and upgrade the dsc at my local dealer?
3. Do you think that I should cancel my order of this car and order a new one and get it a bit later because of the upgrade.
thx in advance

If your car is yet to be built then surely your car will have all the upgrades that have been announced by BMW, they will all have been implemented onto the production line during the shut down period at the plant. He's not trying to sell you an old car from stock is he.

I picked up my US model 2006 530xi in mid-July. I know some will say it's not a true 2006, because that changeover only happens in the Fall. I think for this year, BMW rolled out various major options at various times. Mine is AWD, thus the xi. The xi version came out sometime in the Spring. I'm pretty sure that only xi versions got DSC+ before the Fall changeover. Mine is a manual and has DSC+. I know this, becuase I can detect the hill start assist holding the car in place. BMW also introduced the new inline-6 engine eariler in the year. So, I think the 2006 model year is a bit of a mixed bag regarding with a roll out of various options at various times.

As to the performance of DSC+, other than the hill start assist, I can't really say I've felt anything that is remarkable. That may be a good thing

By the way, the hill start assist works like this: (1) come to a stop on a hill, (2) push the clutch in with your foot on the brake, (3) with the clutch still in, let go of the brake, (4) car is held for about 2 seconds and then rolls backward if you don't go. If you are just in neutral and don't have the clutch in and just take your foot off the brake, there is no holding the car and it rolls backward immediately.

Please excuse my skepticism, but I think it's too easy to confuse an automatic car holding a hill because of the way torque converters work with "hill start assist" which in my mind should only really affect manual and -maybe- SMG cars. What other evidence can you cite to support your belief that your car has DTC+?

I'm slightly fuzzy on the idea of waiting on buying a car just to get DSC+.

I'd rather have DSC-.
