I got my LCI 525i 218 hp for a couple of weeks now
first 500 kms i did regular D driving,i felt the first gear in the automatic didnt have enough power...
then i tried the M mode i streptonic and the drive improved immensely,i love this now!

and today i tried DS and i must say i was really impressed with the ride and the comfort of it

anyone else want to share their experience friends? how do you normally handle your car regular D,DS or M mode??

On both my wife's e46 and my e60 I always drive in DS mode. Much quicker response, especially in the e46.

On my sport automatic, I always use M mode with the sport button pressed.

When I drive steptronic loaners, I almost always use M mode but sometimes DS. I pretty much never use D mode unless I'm driving around with granny...

80% of the time I use DS, 10% D, and 10% M. DS goes a great job knowing when to shift. I find D a bit sluggish, although after accelerating to speed on the freeway I move to D.

Mike -
DS most of the time, when I want the ride a bit smoother - D and when feeling a bit of adrenaline - M

I guess I am the exception here, I have granny in my car all the time (just kidding), i.e. drive in D mode most of the time. I must say that the DS mode feels like it is a different car. On thing though, the thing that I dislike about the DS mode is the heavy shifting or perhaps "tranmission slam" when the car shifts from 3rd to 4th. It shifts as if someone rear ended you. Maybe it is because I am not driving fast enough when it shifts, will have to try going much faster the next time.

Ummm mind my lack of knowledge, but what is the M mode? I'm unfamiliar with this term....
I have the 550i '08 model and I only know either D or DS mode for it... Does mine have the M mode also?

Correct me if I'm wrong but "M" mode is manual mode.
