I got in my car yesterday and I moved the transmission into "DS Mode" and nothing happened.

The DS indicator light near the shifter does not come on, the "D" remains in the info screen and the gearbox does not change modes. In addition despite the shifter still moving back and forth there is no manual mode either.

I have booked it in for a check next week but was wondering if anyone had encountered or heard of this problem and what is was?

Pull up / take off your gear selector panel, disconnect the connections and reconnect them. Should be fixed in a jiffy.

sounds like a shifter problem. my shifter would not pop out of DS automatically. they put a new one on and no problems. i know this is different then yoru problem, but i am just saying that maybe this shifters arent break proof. after all it is a BMW. anything electronic is liable to break at any time.
