Default DS mode

Let's say you are cruising between 45 - 55 mph, can you switch to DS mode from "D" without harm to the engine? What is a safe speed to switch from DS to D or it must be in DS mode before driving?

I'm wondering just in case some knucklehead pulls up next to me and want to test my ride!

Not a problem. I've done that 100's of times with no damage.

No problem whatsoever - I too do it every day. The only issue I ever have is when I get home and have to reverse up the driveway, forgetting it's in the DS/M gate.

That said, I'd be more worried about what would happen if you pressed the "P" button whilst in motion. Or if an adventurous passenger (child perhaps) did it.
