Ouch... But only $14? are you sure???
yeah, if it's just the bracket it's cheap ~ $20 . the whole sway bar is like $100.

freaking center divider popped up out of no where and i drove up it with the front tire...

thank god these lower control arms are made like a rock , didn't phase it at all...

alignment is still the same..

now the change to change to H&R sway bars that what I have.
had to change the lower arm and the rubber holding the swaybar too.
BTW check is the rubber on the arms to see if they are OK that is the part that can brake very easly

I also drove up a curb a couple of months ago because of ice in a roundabout (and the d1ck-heads made the curbs 30-40 cm high) and ... The roundabout was in the middle of nowhere. I think I bent a control arm and something else( the rubber part), bent the rim and blew the tire. About 1000 euros worth of damage ( 2 new tires, 4 used "like new" rims for winter, and the whole repair bill).
It was both bad luck and a bit of stupidity but oh well, it happens, hopefully not again ;-)

well , it's been a while since I posted.

The dealer informed me that the entire lower sub frame must be replaced , the contact area that allows the bracket to bolt in while holding the sway bar is bent.

cost of damages . $ 4500

Insurance is going to cover it.

Wow...

From initial report: "...thank god these lower control arms are made like a rock , didn't phase it at all..."

To: "...entire lower sub frame must be replaced... cost of damages . $ 4500"

You must have smaked it a lot harder than you thought.

Gonna make me real nervous driving my new e60 around on the pot-hole laden roads around here.

Our 16 year-old son hit the curb pretty hard last month, 8 days after getting this license. The auto (non-BMW) that we bought for $10,000 sustained $5000 damage . While insurance will cover most of it, our rates will continue to be sky-high, and will probably increase. He owes us for the deductible ($1M) and the increased rates. Junior will be working a lot this summer!!

a body shop could have fixed the problem saving me a few grand . the only way to fix it would require heating the damaged area with a torch and hammering the bend back into place , enabling the sway bar bracket to bolt up in the right position. Thankfully insurance handled the matter and I have a piece of mind that every part is brand new and OEM ...
