I know this is not a new topic, but I finally had the chance to drive the 525i, 6-speed today. Surprisingly, I found the power to be very sufficient. I live in El Paso, and the salesman was kind enough to allow me to drive through the mountains, and I have to say that I enjoyed the drive, and we able to get up the mountain with ease (need to be in the correct gear, but it felt good). I have driven the 530i Automatic, and I don't think the auto v. the manual is a fair comparison. But, as of today, I believe I could get the 525i-manual, and be perfectly happy.
I am ordering a 2005, so I have time to decide, but I am really leaning toward the 525. I am buying and I plan to keep for some time. Does anyone have any thoughts, advice?
Thanks in advance!

I just ordered a 525 6-sp because I couldn't justify and extra 4500 for only 27 more horses and almost identical gas mileage (this coming from a Porsche Cayenne Turbo owner!). I am taking Euro delivery in Mar. Don't listen to all those people who almost bully you into thinking you have to have a 545 or you ain't sh*t. If you were happy with it, and wouldn't be itching to upgrade, then why spend the extra $? If money is no object, then you would have gone for a 545 right? 187 horses on a lighter chassis mated to a great six speed is far from shabby! Get it and enjoy it!
