I accidently spilled sum tea from the cup holder the other day and it landed in the ash tray and now my ash tray is sticking does anyone know how to remove the lid or or get up under it to clean the guide rails? Very annoying when the ash tray will not close.

Push down "the south" of the ash tray and it'll come out.

Yeah i can remove the ashtray part its the lid that is getting stuck when it closes and i have to slide it by hand to get it to close. The dealer is the last option to use as they are about 30 miles away
Taking the ashtray out is a mare, I did it yesterday so I could get 12v switched for my Roadpilot MicroGo.
You need to remove the hazard/door lock button.
Then remove the trim across the dash.
Unscrew the climate control, and use a long screw driver to prise the front plate off.
You then need to undo and remove the CCC.
That is the front section off.
At that point you need to remove the i-drive knob.
Remove the gear surround and plastic trim.
Unscrew the two torx bolts holding that trim in place.
Then push that whole trim forward and lift from the rear.
You can now remove the ashtray!!!!
At this point I would attach a cigarette lighter extension and put it up behind the I-Drive screen in case you need one at a later point for anything 12v switched.
Also I managed to break the tabs on the bottom of the trim that goes over the dvd/cd drive and around the heated seat/atc buttons, so it no longer sits completely flush.
I know everyone says use the Green/yellow wire in the overhead console for camera detectors, but mive was not switched with the ignition??
