Got the above warning message displayed yesterday. Having it checked out next week.

Was wondering if anyone else has had this and what was the outcome....done a search and can't see anything.

I suspect some sort of electrical fault. Hoping it isn't the airbag module itself. The car is a 2003 UK spec 520i.

Does it say "Airbag Malfunction" or "Pass. Restraint System Fault"?

No... it comes up "Driver Airbag Faulty" on the i-drive on starting up and the small warning sign on the instrument cluster stays on all the time.

On switching off I get an audible "warning" and the large warning light in the centre of the instrument panel comes on.

I had this fault the day i got my car. Bought it anyway cause still under warranty. It was an airbag module. Just remember if you are booked into a dealer make sure you have a loaner booked cause everythings more than 2 hours.
If you cant get a loaner then tell them you have a meeting and not to bother washing it. Cause that takes 2 hours!

Thanks for that but have got a mate who trains the Techies on how to use the machines they connect our cars up to and obviously he has his own So should be okay then!
Did you by any chance find out how much the module cost...I know you were covered by the Warranty so it probably wouldn't worry you but mines is outwith BMW cover although I do have cover from Warranty Direct. (half the price).
BTW the way I noticed from your earlier posts you use the same dealer as me in Hamilton. How do u find them in general? I have had no probs so far.
