Afternoon,

2010 M sport 535i, running perfect from day one, 10,000 miles on it now. Has hesitated to start last couple of mornings, then today coming back from lunch lost power and got a message "engine malfuntion, reduced power" then the car was shaking at every stop and hesitating. Got it back to my office, (only a mile). When I parked it and turned it off, restart started as normal no message. Any advice? Should I have it towed immediatly?

I am guessing this is the dreaded fuel pump issue?

Thanks.

sounds like a possible hpfp failure, definitely should set up an appointment with your SA....good luck...

I wouldn't necessarily have towed immediately...but I would definitely get it to the dealer pretty quick. It does indeed sound like you are starting to have HPFP issues.

Bad HPFP Or bad fuel injectors & spark plugs. Had same error message. Dealer replaced all injectors & spark plugs but said the fuel pump was okay. That was 3 months ago and have no problem since.

2 months ago, same exact thing for me with the error code, engine shake, then cleared after a restart....dealer did the same thing as above including what was repaired and what wasn't..I think they also upgraded my software as well tho
