Any DIY suggestions. Not much helps from dealers.

Try some silicone spray on the felt seals - stopped the creaks for me (still have other rattles though ).

I had mine lubed with something at Crevier BMW, Santa Ana...ask Ben about it and tell him you don't want the carbo-flo stuff. I'm not sure what it was that he used, no problems since Oct, thru rain, multiple washes and two waxes.

This is what I got from Irvine BMW today

Found left front door making sqeaking noise when body flexes. Applied anti sqeaking compound on left front door seals as per BMW and road tested vehicle. No noise is heard at this time.

I think the tech is deaf or something....

I had my Seals changed when the new and improved ones came out ( Red Dot), this was back in the spring, went through the summer with them and now through a very cold winter and they are perfect, no creaking whatsoever.

I am wondering if this problem is not related to geographical location and hot weather? Or perhaps, owners that may have their cars washed at an automatic car wash ( Chemical thing).

I think we need to get a little scientific on this issue and perhaps create another poll to find out if this problem is a result of hot weather or maybe the car wash idea. There has to be a common denomanater in all this?

My dealer replaced all my door seals. If yours won't help you, either call BMWNA and tell them (and let them know that other dealers are doing it), or just go to another dealer. Since then, no issues. And yes, the temp here varies from 30 in the morning to 70 in day, and still no further issues after they were replaced.

I had this problem initially, complained to my dealer and even booked it in for replacement work.

He stuffed it up and 'forgot' to order the parts so it never happened (long story), but .....

....the creaking has mysteriously dissapeared.

I think mine at least was weather related - worst when using the car from cold in the morning.

If it comes back I'll try and get the seals changed again, but from what I read here it that may well not fix it and I am worried that I'll end up with leaks !

I would not worry about any leaks, if the seals are correctly installed they will not leak. I would be much more worried about having water on your roof, say when it rains and then opening your window and getting soaked from the water sliding off the roof and right into the car, which is a regular occurance for me. makes me long for the days when cars were designed with roof gutters to prevent this from happening.
