door locks/central locking
#1
hi all
i've been meaning to ask you guys for some information around this tpoic for some weeks but keep on forgeting.
the door lock on the rear behind the drivers seat (UK SPEC) doesnt seem to work.....thats the door near the fuel cap.
when i press the key fob the lock (ie the little balck thing on the trim) doesnt seem to do anything, it static ie to open the door i need to lean in side and pull the handle to release the door lock and to close i need to close it manually.
i have spoken to a local BMW specialist and he says that he has excatly the same poblem with his e60, same door. so he says soon as he has fixed his he will do mine to, the problem is i have been waiting for about 2 weeks for him to get it sorted but yet he hasn't.
what do you guys think it maybe, hope its nothing to expensive or maybe something like a rod need clipping back in.
have any of you lot had similar problems?
is it difficult to remove the door panel without bracking any of the clips?
PS when i press unlock or lock all i hear is a whinning noise from that area but this could easily be the motor in the fuel cap locking and unlocking
any ideas guys?????

A loose connection is my first choice.
But opening the doors interior is always risk, but new clips can be bought
and with some caution that can be made.
Second option (as you already opened the door) could be a loose rotor problem,
and in the worst case scenario the motor is gone.
Look here for a closer analyze and parts.

I'm having a similar issue (same door) on my E61... my car is set to autolock after I drive off, but sometimes the rear passenger door (German LHD) does not auto lock - but the rest of them do. If I manually unlock and lock it then sometimes all the doors will lock. Strange thing is that I can't seem to reproduce the issue!. It just comes and goes when she feels like it,
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
