hiya,

i've just bought 525d M sport 2006, and i love it so much and i love every single detail in it, but the thing that annoyed me most was the fact that the previous owner had a phone unit under the armsrest, that only fitted one type of some old nokia phone, and it was taking so much space, given the glovebox is already small, i decided to make the most stupid decision a man can make and i removed the unit and cut the wires then push them in the hole and i was so happy that i have more space now without that bulky black thing, but when i turned the ignition on, i had a warning saying SOS call can't be made, or something like that, then i noticed that the cd changer stopped working, at the one moment i looked for the cable i just cut but couldnt get hold of it because i pushed it in the hole, and now ladies and gentle i have to either spend hundreds of pounds at the dealership to have this problem fixed or look for a time machine ...

Easy there ... are you asking for help n00b?
As you said you did somethin' stupid ... most people will try to understand what they gonna do 1st but you decided to just cut stuff out.

Whatever you cut must have a fiber loop in it, that's why you get SOS warning' & your CD changer stop working 'cuz you pretty much cut the fiber loop off ... now how to fix you better off take it to the dealer before start cuttin' stuff off some more.

how about you try removing the center compartment to get a better look at those wires you tucked away....there's a few good DIY's regarding removal of the center compartment...a quick use of the upper right search bar would prove useful...good luck

on side note: no need to insult other members, you might find yourself killing your thread faster than you'd like..

thanks for the advice mate,
i think i'll ring them up before i go, at least get an idea of howmuch they will charge me, and see if the problem is limited to a warning and a cd changer not working then i would save those hundreds of pounds for something else

thanks again

Really, I was just typing what I was thinking. Sorry for the honesty. There is really nothing that can be done except open up that entire compartment where you shoved the wires down and get them out, re-splice it, and pray that it works.

thank you, i think this is the next thing i'm gonna do, i'll just wait for my dad to come back from holland before i do that (since he's an electronics engineer), i hope it works, because i had a look at the cables i cut and they seem to be normal cables nothing special .... ooooh if someone else did this i would have laughed in their face !

thanks again (and no worries, i said that just because i'm so upset)
