You shouldn't compare 3 & 5. For the price we paid for e60, I think a lot of people here can pay less for a M3.

If I am under 30, I'll probably pick 3 series, it is a fun and powerful car to drive. But, I will pick a more mature car when I am over 30.

But between that level of car/power/price range, regardless of age, most would opt for the big power you get with the 3. I drove the 525 and found it under-powered. Unless you need the room, the 335 is the easy choice. You'll probably end up with morefeatures for the money as well.

And the M3 is too much of a dedicated racer to be considered for most folks. The ride quality/speed trade off is too much on that car. The 335 however is still a comfortable cruiser. It's like a 550 vs. M5. (A bit less so. The M5 drives superbly. The sportiness can be muted in everyday driving. Is it December yet?)

Wow! Thanks for all the great responses. To tell you the truth I figured I'd get more "You gotta stay in a 5" here on the E60 board. But seriously... There are ALOT of things I love about my 5er. Just the fact that I can get all those cool gadgets now (I-drive, auto headlight, wipers, pdc, nav) in a E92 it just makes it that more appealing.

I just hope I won't get relegated to just another 3er riding down the road. Feels kinda nice not seeing a 5er every 5 min on the highway.

I just wonder if I can fit into the high bolstered sport seats or not...

If the 335i is comfortable for you, I'd say it's a no brainer. 335i

U make a very good point. there are a lot of well of teenagers driving 3 series - although not a 335i, but still a 3 series. The 5 puts u in a slightly different class.

I personally would go for a low milleage 530i from the dealer with guarantee. I have driven a e39 till 400,000 kms so i know they r good engines.

I drive a 530D, but if I were single like you I'd definately have the new 335i. I'd go for the slick coupe version if I could though.
