My Ride: 2004 530i - titanium grey/blk/anthracite, Nav, SMG, Sport, Premium, Cold Weather, HUD, moonroof, heated steering, xenon active lighting, Dakota leather, power all.
Thumbs up

I was wondering if it is possible to do a tire burn out with the SMG? I have yet to try it, but want to know if any SMG owners have done it before. If so, how did you do it? thankz

i dont think it matters if u have an smg... u jus have to switch off the traction ( hold the button for bout 3 sec) put it into 1st gear n hit the break n gas hard ... btw i dont think u can do a burnout in CIP 20 .. because after i got my upgrade from CIP 19 just when the tyre slips it stops .. i think guys at bmw put in an extra traction which we cant turn off

You can learn how to use acceleration assistant (launch control) by following this link:

Hey fellow San Diegan,
I have read here of a few other SMG owners doing tire burn outs. I believe them to be JDN and Realtyman. Maybe they can chime in? Do a search for "launch control" and/or follow Rudy's link. I, myself, have not done any yet but plan to soon.

NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER! Not on a SMG. Never Hit the brake and gas at the same time when you're at a stand still you'll kill the clutch. as for burn out eh... use Acceleration Assist. That or be in first rolling and just nail it. Thats not a burn out but it'll screech some tires...

Have done that! Does that count as a launch?

Hey, I am still waiting for my E60 535d M Sport to arrive so I ask this question tentatively, why would you want to do a burn out in a big saloon, is it to warm the rear tyres for traction or to act like a whopper to impress your mates/prospective sh@gs/other potential kills at the traffic lights ?

In my case, two reasons:

1. Wear out the 275s as soon as possible to get 285s.
2. Want to begin measuring runs for 0-60 and 1/4 mile for my own satisfaction. Znod, here I come!
