Hey guys, I'm still trying to learn the intricacies of the HVAC system on the BMW. On my old Audi, whether it was in AUTO mode or manual fan speed mode, the fan would not kick in if the air wasn't warm enough to be blown.

My BMW doesn't seem to be doing that, which seems odd for such a luxurious car. Is there something wrong with my car or is there something I'm missing?

Thanks!

Don't you have 2 knobs with temperature markings and then an auto button? Turn the knob to your desired temperature and hit that AUTO button

Yep, I have the 2 knob HVAC. I'll try your idea over the next few days and see what happens. However, I don't like using AUTO because I like to set the the passenger footwell to 0% air since that's where my laptop goes and in the Audi it would always get hot.

However, I was playing with it at lunch a bit today and noticed that I can change the distribution of air between the vents while in AUTO mode and it didn't reset the distribution this time, even though, it did previous times.

Weird.

Mine is in full Auto, and the fan does blow at lowest setting immediately after start, blowing cool air. After engine warms up, the fan speed increases to blow warm air.

When in auto mine only blows air when there is enough heat to get it to the correct temp, after aproximatly 2-3 mins of driving in the winter.
