does your Ipod interface charge ur ipod?
The Scosche passPort adapter seems to be the best solution.
My daughter's iPod Nano (5th generation) and her iPhone have the same issue in my Nissan. The Scosche adapter fixed that problem.
It isn't a coding issue, it is a hardware issue. Apple changed the pin-outs and charging voltage on their newer products from +12V to +5V. They implemented their new standard without announcing it to any other aftermarket accessory manufacturers, and those that seemed to get hit the hardest seems to have been iPod interfaces for automobile stereos.

I was gonna say that seems to be the best choice at the moment. If the adaptor still doesn't allow charging you might want to consider the other BMW cable, thats what I used. I wasn't aware of this adaptor so let us know if it works.

Unfortunately, unlike w/ the newer LCI on the older pre-LCI the cable is permanently attached to the module box (where the CDC located behind the glove box, above the fuse box) so not customer replaceable.
If you search around many members here been using the adapter for at least the past few years (I'm sure other brand available too). It's basically a simple re-arrange charging pin inside it

Some of them early/initial model of the module has the cable permanent then some has detachable end but no replacement part for the cable itself.
Interestingly mine is a detachable cable but my car is an 04 model. The cable is actually really long and thick making it difficult to manipulate and takes up over half of the glove box. It must be some variation on a normal USB to iPod connector. If I can find work out the pin associations then it could be converted to a USB adaptor and then you can use any suitable iPod cable.
