2 rattles... one small one comming from the bottom of the glovebox area in the passenger side of the car, had it since day one.

the other rattle is the rear parcel shelf started about when the car had 2000 miles or so... will get it sorted the next time the car goes in for service.

7000 miles and only after I go Highway driving the rattles come up. They seem to disappear the next day though.

With the exception of the creaking door seals, no rattles!
Creaking door seals ? If the door seals are creaking isnt that just crap rubber and/or the body shell isnt stiff enough ?
just go to the dealer and replace door seals, they are under warranty
[/quote]

Or if your out of warranty, apply Gummi-Pfledge around the window/door rubber seals. I did it my old e46 before and it worked like a miracle...... irritating creaking/tapping sound from the doors dissappeared. I'm planning to do the same on my e60 since I just noticed this weekend the same thing. BTW, BMW oart number is 82-149-400-195.

A rattle has just started on my E60 during the past 2 weeks. It appears to be coming from the passenger door and I think its coming from the "button" for the door lock (the button which goes up and down when you unlock/loce the doors). I think that's the cause otherwise its something within the door itself. Only started happening with the recent cold/wet spell we've been having. Need to get it check out when next in.
Yes, you are right !!
Don't look for something else.

All my door lock buttons are creaky, even when doors are locked (button down).
When are not locked, the creaks are more noticeable.
I've taped them with an adhesive tape when locked, to test them, and all the creaks are completely stopped.

It's a manufacturer's failure, so BMW must fix that problem, at least for the early manufactured E60's.

Spmething rattles in the ceiling close to the rear light switches. I have a moon roof, but it looks to not be caused by it.
