Am I nuts or did my car once retract the steering wheel when you shut the car off? I know my last car the wheel and the seat both went back, and I could have sworn that when I first got my car it took the wheel in but I can't remember? After me driving around and not knowing about the L.E.D.'s not working it got me all paranoide (sorry can't spell) that there is all stuff wrong with my car it's driving me . Then I get from everyone on an other topic that my mpg avg. is awfull... and I only have had my car for like 3 weeks if that.....

Steering wheel should go full up on shutting off the ignition. The side bolsters on my Comfort Seats also open up all the way.

Your steering wheel may be all the way telescoped forward - therefore no place for it to 'retract' to.. Try pulling it toward you - then turn off the car..if you haven't tried this already.

I don't think it does retract, only tilts up. If yours retracts and tilts I'll have to pay more attention to mine.

Mine forgot to get out of the way at first and I fixed it by switching keys one time. There was something about one key being original and the other a duplicate with its own memory. Occasionaly, mine forgets (3 times in one year) and I found that adjusting the wheel position using the controls up and down once seemed to help.
The wheel does not retract by telescoping into the dash for exit ease. However, it can be moved around with the memory switch.

If the steering wheel is adjusted up to its top most position for driving, then it won't move when you turn off the car. So you might try lowering it some bit and then seeing if it moves when you take out the key. Try that first and let us know.

According to the manual :
"The steering wheel automatically moves as high up and as far forward as possible to ease driver entry and exit ..."
So in theory it should do both.
I'm sure the demo I drove did this, but it doesn't seem to move at all in our car, despite trying various different scenarios (although admittedly we've only had the car for two days!). The backrest width changes though, so I wonder if there is a bug in the latest software version.

Same thing for in (forward). Test by putting low and towards driver and see if it goes high and forward with ignition off and out.

Mine has never worked, and I report it every time I take it in for service. It's a magical mystery machine.

Sounds like a module or sensor if u have gone through several software ugrades, cause that is in the manual and should be easy enough for u to demonstrate. HAd u tried both keys?
