Does this sound right???

Hi All,
First of all, I'm in the UK, which might be relevant.
Dealership phoned me yesterday to say the new car has landed in the UK (good news), however they are now saying it wont be ready for collection until 17th October (three weeks away!) at the earliest (bad news).
Does this sound right? It's just they said to me last week that it would be ready at some point next week (3rd October or something) at the latest. Do you think if I asked them nicely they can do anything to speed it up? It's just I'm going to be car-less for a period of time if they can't help.
PS. I'm picking the car up from the South-East of England, so it's not like they're going to have to arrange transport to Scotland or anything...
Your advice is, as always, greatly appreciated.

Did they not offer an explanation for the delay? I would press them for some details as they are leaving you without transport due to the delay.
It does sound a bit odd to me, perhaps there was some minor damage in transport that needs to be repaired. It does happen on occasion.

If the car landed yesterday, I don't get why the dealership won't even get the car until 12th October at the earliest.
Just doesn't add up?

You are correct, given that the car is in country, it should not take three weeks to prep and get to you. Again, ask the dealer, only they know the real answer. Maybe in checking the car they found some mechanical defect and the part is back ordered. But even then the three weeks seems awfully long. Good luck...

You need to get on the phone to the dealer and find out ... you never know, I might end up getting mine before you
