My 550i (2008) does not hold the correct date. It is a CPO and I bought it in January
It is the third time I have to reset the date.

Is it under warranty? What should I do? (I will call dealer tomorrow)

Sounds like the battery. Or more likely your dealer will say that you have "unfavorable driving patterns". This is their way of saying you don't drive enough to keep the battery charged. Of course it is BS. But it could be the beginnings of the battery going bad or an issue with some module not allowing the car to sleep properly, draining the battery. I have had this message several times on my '08 550 as well and occasionally get the Increased Battery Discharge message.... I just make sure to take the car out for one or two good highway runs on the weekends and that keeps the problem at bay.

+1 for a battery issue. I had the same problem, time and date kept needing to be set every few weeks, lasted for about 6-8 moths. Problems began ~2yr after acquisition. Finally had a CEL, dealer replaced the battery and no more problems. It was replaced under warranty.

Don't forget that it could be that the battery is fine but something else isn't allowing the car to enter or remain in sleep mode... (There are a ton of threads about this out there.)

Are you getting any warning messages when you first turn on the key?

I do not get any warnings when i turn the "key" on. (just the triangle saying that i need to reset the time/date and once inawhile there is a clock that shows up...I guess it is when the time/date goes crazy)

I drive my car every weekends (i have 4 cars and 2 motorcycles and the BMW is the weekend car), and since i bought the car i noticed delay in the date, (up to one week drift )

and yes, i called the dealer and of course he told me the BS about not driving the car enough. I told him that only my BMW has this problem and it should not be like that with a car i just bought a few months ago .

I have an appointement May 20th...we will see...they say it is work under warranty.

What is a CEL?

Damn...4 cars en the 550 is just for the weekend? I definitely have to move to the US

Good luck with the dealer...sounds like they are just as lazy there as they are over here!

Battery. A drifting date the first symptom.

I reset my date a few times until I realized i was 12 hours out of sync because of am/pm, so the date was changing everyday at 12 noon.
